The “Grasshopper Model T” is a well-known custom hot rod that was originally built in the late 1950s by John Geraghty and John Crawford and was featured on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine in October 1959. It was later recreated by Dave Shuten of Galpin Auto Sports (GAS).

Original Build: The original Grasshopper was a 1915 Ford Model T roadster known for its striking looks and impressive performance, designed for both show and drag racing.

Engine & Drivetrain: The original build featured a custom chassis housing a 4-71 GMC-blown 303ci Olds V8, a LaSalle transmission, and a Halibrand quick-change rear axle. The “show” version used a hollowed-out, fully-chromed engine for aesthetics, while a separate “go” motor, bored and stroked to 480 inches, could deliver over 800 hp, enabling the roadster to run the quarter-mile in the low 9s at over 150 mph.
